Browns WR Cedric Tillman exits Friday's practice with leg injury

The Cleveland Browns failed to make any substantial upgrade to their wide receiver room, and now may be in hot water as a result. Wide receiver Cedric Tillman, who missed the back half of the season with a concussion, has once again left the practice field with another injury. Tillman injured his leg and did not return to practice. The Browns did not give an update on the status of Tillman, as he is likely undergoing further testing. This leaves the Browns incredibly thin at the position behind Pro Bowler Jerry Jeudy. The only substantial move that the Browns made was to bring in Diontae Johnson on a one-year deal, a player who burned through three locker rooms in 2024. David Bell has also started the season on Physically Unable to Perform. This means the Browns will get a healthy dose of second-year player Jamari Thrash, who has much to prove after essentially a net-zero rookie season. Tillman, while he had a miniature breakout in 2024, has to stay on the field for the Browns to be able to count on him. We'll know soon just how severe an injury that Tillman is facing, as the Browns will likely be cautious with him the rest of training camp. Browns WR Jamari Thrash tabbed as biggest offseason surprise

The Cleveland Browns opted not to address the wide receiver room on their roster, putting a ton of expectations on Pro Bowler Jerry Jeudy and now third-year wide receiver Cedric Tillman. However, 2024 fifth round pick Jamari Thrash is getting some buzz heading into the season after his first full NFL offseason. ESPN put together an article of every team's biggest surprise this offseason, and ESPN Cleveland's Daniel Oyefusi tabbed the former Louisville wideout as that candidate for the Browns. Here is what Oyefusi had to say on what he saw from Thrash through minicamps and OTAs: Advertisement "A 2024 fifth-round pick who caught three passes as a rookie, Thrash took advantage of opportunities in an unproven receiver room and established himself as a reliable option for all the Browns' quarterbacks." Oyefusi then went on to add quotes from head coach Kevin Stefanski on the offseason that Thrash had entering his second season. Needless to say, the head coach is impressed with what he has saw out out his young receiver: "He's had a really strong spring... He is here all the time working on his body. Very intelligent player, can line up in multiple positions which I think is valuable. And then he showed up, he's caught the ball well and you know the quarterbacks like how he gets open. He finds a way to get open versus zone, versus man." While the Browns signed Diontae Johnson to a one-year deal with no guaranteed money, the roadblocks for Thrash to find the field this season are non-existent. The room is shallow, and there is a pathway for Thrash to become the third wide receiver on this football team. Advertisement Now we will see if Thrash can carry that momentum into training camp and then into the season.
